Strain Gauges

Often the measurement of strain will be neccesary when designing load-carrying devices, such as shafts, pressure vessels or support structures. While analyses based on the mechanics of materials will provide good approximations of strains and stresses for simple geometries, very often complex configurations will require direct measurement of strain.
