Modelling System Parameters

The parameters of the spring-mass-dashpot model, as introduced earlier in Modelling the System, are the effective end mass, the spring constant, and the damping constant. Determining these quantitites will enable you to predict the Vibrational Parameters.

The Effective End Mass, Meff, can be estimated based on the information given in the data sheets. The Spring Constant, k, can be predicted with beam theory and measured directly in the lab. However, the damping constant cannot be predicted or measured directly in the lab.
