Tuesday Tip: Android VNC and Controlling Macs

I was trying to setup a Google Nexus 7 to control my Mac Mini. But I had almost no luck in getting the android-vnc-viewer to connect to the Mini (running 10.7.x Server).

The trick was to:

3) Select “24-bit color (4 bpp)” in the “Color Format” drop-down menu

…connect to my mac via VNC and Apple’s built in VNC server…

That’s the key. Set the color depth and it all works as it should.
