Veloc. Calib. Principles

Recalling Equation 3 of the Veloc. Theory of Oper., the linear relationship between the velocity of the coil and the voltage measured by the velocimeter is given by:

(1)

The velocimeter can be calibrated by comparing the voltage indicated to the velocity of the vibrating beam.

The displacement versus time data that can be acquired with the strain gauges or the LVDT (top graph) can be used to determine the velocity. The velocity (bottom graph) can then be compared with the voltage measured from the output of the velocimeter to find a calibration factor, Cv for the velocimeter.
