Free Vibration

[Free Vibration Video - 350 KB]

Free vibration can be caused by manually deflecting and releasing the beam without any forcing present. A beam in free vibration will vibrate at its ringing frequency.

Note that it is the damping effects of frictional energy losses within the beam and due to air resistance that eventually stop the beam.
