Forced Vibration System Parameters

A typical forced vibrational displacement vs. time data set is show to the right. This response is governed by the differential equation:

(1)

Notice that [[Omega]] is a forcing frequency. Recall from the Forced Vib Eqn Solution that the solution to the differential equation for forced response is:

(2)
where:

(3)
and
(4)

Using the LSQVIB program supplied with your lab computer will allow you to extract the natural frequency and damping ratio from the forced response data.
