What can we learn…

Note: I wrote this back over the summer well in advance of Steve Jobs’ death.

If the recent Fortune article is to be believed, Apple’s operating and management principles might be summarized as:

  • Directly Responsible Individual: An individual empowered with responsibility for any given project.
  • Everyone’s on the Same Page: The entire team is on the same page and is aware of the critical information on direction and projects. I’d rephrase this as transparency. The projects are well known and are not obscured by individuals or groups.
  • Constant Course Correction: The organization is nimble, and when it makes a change in direction it’s instantaneous and committed. It does help to be “right” more often than not.
  • Focus on Just a Few Things: The ability and conviction to say no is important.

I wonder, what can we at OEIT learn from these?
