ScholarOne–A Lousy Journal Review System

Ok, I’ve just had another–what the hell were they thinking moment working with the ScholarOne manuscript review system used by the IEEE Computer Society.

Holy hell this software sucks. That’s really all I can say about it. The interface is confusing, it’s not clear what/how to do things, and it doesn’t provide the links to what you need to do from where you need to do it.

I probably have spent as much time trying to figure out the system, as I did performing at least one of the reviews I did. And the systems is still defeating me. I’d like to think that I know something about interacting with websites, this site is completely baffling.

This is the post I should have written months ago when I first used the system.

What a waste of time.
