Big City? What’s That?

(I started this post in early-February…maybe it’s time to finish it now that it’s mid-April.)

Oh yeah, I’m starting to remember now…

I’m out in the Cambridge area apartment hunting. This would definitely be much harder without Google and Craigslist (which started in San Francisco).

Apparently I’ve been living in the sticks (Logan/Cache Valley) for too long.

I’ve forgotten about living in high density areas: neighborhoods, apartments, traffic, noise, and so on.

I looked at a couple different types of apartments — the “modern” big-corporation apartment complex and the small 1-3 apartment building. Some places were complete dumps and most were 20-50 years old, or older. I ended up deciding on the first place I looked at. It was remodeled (rebuilt really) in 2006 and “reminded” me of the apartment I lived in before I built my house in Providence and even a little about my house itself. (Yes, it’s one of those “modern” big-corporation apartment complexes.)

But I realized while apartment hunting, oh yeah, that this is what the big city is like. The whole atmosphere is like when I lived in the Bay Area…amazing what 5 years in northern Utah did to my frame of reference.
