Accidents don't come with "labels" indicating what disciplines are needed for proper investigation, or the apparent "labels" may be wrong. The investigator must keep in mind the interdisciplinary nature of failure analysis, no matter the size of the project. A few case histories will illustrate these points.

About the Speaker:
Mr. Roland Huet is a Senior Managing Engineer in Exponent's Mechanical Engineering and Materials practice. For the past 20 years, he has specialized in combining metallurgical and mechanical engineering to perform failure analysis and accident reconstruction. He is frequently called upon to perform failure analyses of a variety of materials, components, devices and equipment such as: metals, glasses, plastics, computer components, flat panel displays, plastic cases, capacitors, batteries, power plant components, steam generators, and turbines.
