The San Francisco Section of ASME Presents:

BART to Oakland International Airport Connector!
Christian Andersen, Lea+Elliot Project Engineer

Thursday, October 23, 2003
Francesco's Restaurant
8520 Pardee Drive, Oakland, CA 94621, (510) 569-0653

On March 28, 2002 the BART Board of Directors approved the long-awaited BART link to Oakland International Airport via an elevated Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) system with a new station at the airport, and two stations along the 3.2-mile link.

The Connector would provide a transit alternative to driving individual automobiles and the overall airport traffic situation would benefit from reducing the number of cars on the road.

The total project budget for the BART Oakland Airport Connector Project is approximately $232 million (in 2001 dollars). The entire project has been a collaborative partnership between BART, the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority, the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency, and the City & Port of Oakland.
