About the Tour:
Please join us for a tour of the Solano County Wind Energy Project, a joint event with the Sacramento-Sierra Nevada Section.

Fifteen new wind turbines began producing an additional 10 megawatts of electricity for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) customers in the spring of 2003. The wind turbines, located in the Montezuma Hills in Solano County near Rio Vista, each climb 241 feet above the ground and have rotor-and-blade assemblies with diameters of 150 feet. The next phase will be 85 megawatts by mid-2006.
