Tour the Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien
Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 11 am.
Pier 45, Fisherman's Wharf
The tour is to last about two hours

Join us for a tour of the SS Jeremiah O'Brien, a National Historic Landmark and an American Society of Mechanical Engineers Landmark. One of two surviving Liberty ships preserved in the United States, Jeremiah O'Brien is the last unaltered Liberty. The ship is a product of an emergency shipbuilding program of World War II that resulted in the construction of more than 2,700 Liberty ships. Designed as cheap and quickly built simple cargo steamers, the Liberty ships formed the backbone of a massive sealift of troops, arms, material, and ordnance to every theater of the war.

The SS Jeremiah O'Brien is berthed at Pier 45 in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf. After the tour you can take advantage of any of the many fine restaurants and pubs that are in this area. A great way to end a day.
