Exploring the Internet
DATE: Saturday, February 28, 1998 TIME: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Registration begins at 8:30 am PLACE: San Jose State University Room E-287 Engineering Building
OBJECTIVE | This one day course is intended to provide an introduction to the standard tools used to "surf the net." There will be a demonstration and a "hands-on" lab. |
WHO SHOULD ATTEND |
Anyone interested in knowing how to use the basic internet tools to find information on the WWW. |
COURSE OUTLINE |
There will be a two hour on-line demonstration in the use of e-mail, telnet, gopher, FTP, Newsnet, a few UNIX tolls, listervs, Archie, Veronica and WWW browsers. The remaining time will be spent in a lab connected to the Web, doing simple exercises with the tools discussed earlier. Each student will create their own home page. |
INSTRUCTOR | Dr. Floyd LeCureux is a faculty member in the Computer Science Department at CSU-Sacramento where he is currently teaching several courses related to the Internet.
