The assignments listed below are to be completed by both the ME39C and ME139
students.
Assignment #1:Write an Essay (1/24/96, Due 1/31/96)
- How will technologies like the WWW, multimedia, and information publishing
change the world?
- What are your predictions?
- Is this something everyone will need to learn?
- What is the societal impact of such technologies?
- What role will engineers/designers/government/media play in their development
Assignment #2: Design a Home Page (1/30/96, Due 2/7/96)
Introduce yourself to the class and learn HTML at the same time. Note that you are expected to
update your home page later on in the semester from your course project. For this assignment,
your home page should have the following:
- A picture of you, or something that represents you
- Some information about where you can be found by your peers
- A link to your essay from assignment #1. Your essay should also be on the Web.
Assignment #3: Create a Storyboard (2/14/96, Due 2/28/96)
- Create a storyboard by yourself. This storyboard should be done by sketching. Keep this in your design log or portfolio.
- Share your storyboard ideas in your group.
- Create a group storyboard.
- Turn in your group's storyboard for grading.
You will be expected to turn in a group storyboard on your project.
This document does NOT reflect the final case study, but demonstrates that you
have done some good thinking and planning as a group. See handout on "Creating
Storyboards" for more details.
Final Project: Create a Multimedia Case in Enginering or History of Technology (3/6/96, Due 5/1/96)
