Transformation Agenda Collaboration
Collaborating with Massachusetts Community Colleges in Advanced Manufacturing Education
The Transformation Agenda was a collaboration of the 15 public community colleges in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts brought together in the first round of Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) funding from the U.S. Department of Labor.
At the request of MIT’s Provost, OEIT engaged with the Transformation Agenda to explore how MIT could assist Massachusetts community colleges to develop digital and online and curricula in advanced manufacturing. And to share MIT’s philosophies to blend online/virtual with hands-on learning and balancing the theoretical with the applied.
The MIT team developed two case studies and an innovative CAD assessment tool, and implemented a proof-of-concept data sharing experiment that integrated labor market data with program data from a community college.
For the Transformation Agenda project, I:
- Served as project director and was responsible for overall project administration and MIT’s contributions to the project
- Co-led the strategic consulting and project scoping
- Produced two case studies
- Participated in data sharing experiments with predictive analytics
Growing out of the Transformation Agenda work was DXtera, a company launched to implement the data sharing approaches pioneered by the project with colleges and universities.
