Disable Visual Editor in WordPress

On a couple of the WordPress sites I run for OEIT, I have added in embed and object tagged code. My user has an administrator role to enable me to do this. I exclusively use the HTML mode to do my editing, so there’s little to no chance of inadvertently changing the HTML code for those external services.

However, on a couple of these sites there are users with editor and administrator privileges that might inadvertently switch to Visual mode, thereby inadvertently modifying the HTML code.

I found a couple of ways to “remove” the Visual editing mode, thanks to this post.

Ultimately I ended up going with:

  • Easy Disable Visual Editor: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easy-disable-visual-editor/
    Disables the Visual editor globally.
