It’s the conversations!

Hrm, I thought I wrote about this topic already, after scouring my site I couldn’t find anything about it…so jumping right in.

A while back I wrote about Trip Reports and Meeting (Conference) Followup. What I thought I mentioned then is that one of the big reasons I attend conferences is more for the conversations I can have outside of formal, organized sessions. And by extension the people I can meet or catch up with.

I ran across this quote from Seth Godin’s blog that’s spot on:

I focus on what I do remember: the engaged conversations.

I also attend conferences for a chance to get away from the daily demands of the day job, to get some time to think about projects and areas on which we really should be focusing. Those things that we don’t seem to find time for, because there’s always something else to work on at our desks.

Why do you attend conferences?
