Driving East – Day 2

,

Day 2 of the great eastward migration was much easier. I got a bit later start, after my crazy long Friday. I managed to continue through Nebraska, all the way through Iowa and got about halfway through to Joliet, Illinois. (And no, I did not have to stay in the prison!) All told about 12 hours on the road and 10 hours of driving. My big goal was to arrive into Illinois after a storm and succeeded in doing that.

(A brief aside about Iowa. The first trip I was supposed to make as NEEDS Project Manager in 1995 was to visit Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. I never got to make that trip because I got sick. Nor have I had the opportunity to visit Iowa since then. So yesterday’s drive through Iowa, you could say, was 14 years in the making.)
