  This plugin makes it simple to add Google Analytics to your WordPress blog, adding lots of features, eg. custom variables and automatic clickout and download tracking.

  I’ve been a fan of the developer Joost de Valk ever since starting to blog in 2008. And I’ve used this plugin in the past. In the last year or so I’ve changed the theme I’ve been using and have just been dropping the Google Analytics code directly into the theme header/footer, as much to reduce complexity (number of plugins) as anything else. On one site I manage, I wanted to track outbound links a bit better than the standard GA, re-enter this plugin. You can set it up to track outbound links as Events and report those “events” as more granular detail in the GA report.

• Maintenance Mode: http://sw-guide.de/wordpress/plugins/maintenance-mode/
  Adds a splash page to your blog that lets visitors know your blog is down for maintenance. Logged in administrators get full access to the blog including the front-end.

  Useful if you really want to change things and not have the rest of the world watching.

  This plugin lets users with the editor role (using the default role system in WordPress 3.x) use unfiltered HTML.   On one of the sites I run, I had the need to restrict which users/roles could select which categories for their posts. Essentially I wanted to keep one set of users from commandeering sections of a home page where I used categories to direct WordPress what to display where.
• WP Require Auth: http://johnny.chadda.se/projects/wp-require-auth/
  If you need to make your WordPress site private, this plugin makes it possible for your users having to log in before being able to view any content on the website.

  Video and audio plugin for WordPress built on the MediaElement.js HTML5 media player library. Provides Flash or Silverlight fallback players for non-HTML5 browsers. Supports iPhone, iPad, and Andriod. Supports MP4, OGG, WebM, WMV, MP3, WAV, WMA files as well as captions with WebSRT files.
