Stop Zooming Desktop Icons in Mac OS X

,

This has been bugging me for a while now, but I just figured out how to stop zooming the icon size on my Desktop in Mac OS X 10.6.

Go to System Preferences : Trackpad and deselect Pinch Open & Close. (Though I do wonder what else I disabled.)

Although I will point out that this will disable ALL pinch and zoom, not just for the desktop.

I hate it on my desktop, but I use it in other apps, I really dislike how mac is not configurable in this respect, why can’t I disable it JUST on the desktop, who zooms their desktop anyway, it’s not exactly common behaviour….

Disable Pinch Zoom in the Trackpad option. Then in an app do a CMD plus + to zoom in or CMD plus to Zoom out.

By 10.8 (and perhaps earlier) Apple fixed the zooming icons on the Desktop so I don’t think there’s a need to disable it completely now. (Unless you want to disable it for more than just the obnoxious icon zooming that was bugging me in 10.6.)
