Favorite Logan Restaurants

Recently, I wrote about my Favorite [Asian] Restaurants and was reminded of some where I used to live in Logan, UT.

Believe it or not, but I do have some favorite restaurants in Logan, UT. The food in these restaurants is pretty good–definitely a on par with even high-end chain restaurants. But really, what makes these restaurants special is the time I spent there with good friends. (Oh, knowing the owner of two of them didn’t hurt either. :) )

Anyway, on to the list:

  • Hamiltons Steak and Seafood: The upscale steak and seafood restaurant in Cache Valley owned by Justin Hamilton. Before I moved to Logan I thought that there must be an up-scale steak restaurant in Logan–there really wasn’t. Then, thankfully, Hamiltons came to town. By comparison, I’d classify the Iron Gate Grill, the Coppermill and Sizzler all in the same category-ish. And by the time I left, a new restaurant opened, Blackstone. I know some folks who really like it, but for me it was mostly miss in terms of food quality and service.
  • Cafe Sabor: Justin Hamilton’s first restaurant a “fancy” Mexican-ish restaurant. It wasn’t quite upscale Californian Mexican, nor was it Tex-Mex, but it was pretty darn good food.
  • Happy Sushi: Yeah, I know, what am I thinking. Happy Sushi was the best Japanese restaurant in town by the time I left. It’s nowhere near on par with those listed on my Favorite [Asian] Restaurants, but rather it was the company that made the restaurant.
  • Indian Oven: Indian Oven gets an honorable mention. The food was reasonably good before the owners had a falling out and split up. After the split, the food became over-priced and mediocre. The real reason it’s on my list, when it was at its previous location, is that it won a Best of Utah Award for “best use of a gas station”.
